A couple of days ago I made a small hair accessory:
This was my fifth sewing project (not counting alterations and mending). Before this, I had already made a cutsew, a pair of pants, a headbow, and a sun hat.
The pants were the most tragic — and entirely self-inflicted — failure. When I bought the fabric, I was too excited to start sewing right away and didn't have the patience to wash the fabric first. I looked up whether that specific fabric was prone to shrinkage; the answer was yes, but only vertically. I thought, well, I don’t mind if my pants end up a bit shorter, as long as they still fit elsewhere.
I finished them, wore them once, washed them. They came out as capri pants, just as predicted. I didn’t even manage to take a photo before the dramatic pant shortening...
